Wound Care Products Essential For A First Aid Kit

An accident is something that happens all of a sudden, and the consequences may or may not result in injuries. In the case of injuries or wounds, it is essential to have a first aid kit.


This contains some necessary items at your disposal helpful in reducing the severity of the injury. You can use this kit for preliminary treatment on the spot and take some time to go to the hospital.

1. Medical Gloves

3. Gauze Sponges

One of the most important wound care products is a Gauze sponge. In case of severe injuries, a gauze sponge can be used to soak blood or other bodily fluids flowing out of an injury. It can also be used to serve as a shield from dirt and other contaminants.

Another important use of Gauze Sponge is its application before a bandage. In case of injuries, ointments are applied to the wound. Post that, it is covered with a gauze sponge and then a bandage is wrapped around the wound.

4. Bandages

There are various types of bandages, which may be used depending on the type of injury sustained. The three basic types of bandages used are gauze bandage, crepe bandages, and adhesive bandages.

While gauze bandages are widely used for application and covering of open wounds. Gauze bandages are coupled with gauze sponges.

The second type of bandage is the crepe bandage which is used extensively for wrapping parts of the body where muscular or internal injuries might have been sustained. Creep bandage is used widely for relieving swellings as well.

Another very regular type of bandage used is an adhesive bandage. It is very helpful for small injuries. Adhesive bandages may or may not be medicated.      

5. Medical Tapes

These tapes are handy when it comes to wound care products. It also helps in ensuring bandages or gauze sponges remain secured at the injury site.

6. Sterile Cotton Tip Applicators

These are very important for the application of ointments over injuries. It also allows for careful application of the ointments on the precise location where required.
