Four Tasty Breakfast Creations For Hungry Families
Did you know March is National Nutrition Month?
National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices, developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
“Go Further with Food” is the theme for 2018. Whether it’s starting the day off right with a healthy breakfast or fueling before an athletic event, the foods you choose can make a real difference.
This year’s theme for National Nutrition Month encourages us to prepare your foods to go further, by planning meals and snacks in advance to help reduce food loss and waste.
Writer Rachelle Wilber shares her ideas on four breakfast creations for hungry families.
Feeding a hungry family is a big responsibility. Families need the energy to conquer the day successfully.
Food is fuel. If you fail to consume a good breakfast in the A.M., you may find yourself feeling sluggish and out of sorts for the rest of the day.
Thankfully, these four delicious breakfast creations can give family members the energy necessary to soar all day long.
Oatmeal
Some people associate oatmeal with blandness. However, that is far from the truth.
There are so many ways to make oats taste like a gourmet feast. Try jazzing up your oatmeal with honey, sliced bananas and maybe even a few raisins.
This can sweeten the deal and make them more nutritious as well. There are myriad ways to enjoy oatmeal, just try out everything in your cupboard to help yourself out.
If you prefer things savory, you can even try adding sun-dried tomatoes or a bit of mozzarella cheese. Oatmeal can be a blank palate for all kinds of delightful breakfast creations.
You can choose between steel-cut and old-fashioned varieties as well.
Frittatas
If your family members appreciate hearty and savory breakfasts, you can’t go wrong with frittatas. These Italian favorites can wake you up in the morning.
They can fill you up and keep you going for hours and hours, too. Eggs are the necessary foundation of delicious frittatas.
Frittatas are a lot like scrambled eggs and omelets. They frequently include mouthwatering components such as pasta, vegetables, cheese and meat.
You can opt for broccoli frittatas if your heart desires. You can even try your hand at sweeter frittatas that feature bananas.
Buckwheat Pancakes and Maple Syrup
Are you a big fan of pancakes? Chances are the rest of your family members are, too.
If you want to feed your ravenous family like a champion, buckwheat pancakes can work well. You can take your buckwheat pancakes to a new level by topping them with maple syrup, too.
Pure maple syrup is perfectly sweet and delicious and even includes some great minerals. Buckwheat pancakes are levels above regular buttermilk pancakes in flavor and contain a whole lot more nutrition.
Pancakes are a great way to enjoy a lovely breakfast with your family.
Breakfast Toast
Do you want to feed your hungry family toast that’s a lot of fun to eat? Try to get creative with your toppings.
Everyone enjoys some variety, especially when it comes to flavors and enjoyable textures that you might not use very often. There are so many filling toast toppings that can get your family members ready for the day ahead.
Options include crumbled feta cheese, refried beans, natural peanut butter, fried eggs, avocado, raspberry jam, cinnamon and bacon. Don’t be afraid to use your imagination; it will lead you to new landscapes of flavor.
If you want to feed your hungry family, tasty breakfast options abound. Try to experiment any time you can. Eating new breakfasts together can be excellent for family bonding.
What’s your favorite food for breakfast? Please share it in the Comments. I’m partial to bacon and onion omelets.
