National Doctor’s Day ~ Friday Humor

National Doctor’s Day is celebrated annually on March 30th in the United States. It is a day to honor and recognize the contributions and hard work of physicians and other healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to the care of others.

The first National Doctor’s Day was celebrated on March 30, 1933, in Winder, Georgia. The holiday was proposed by Eudora Brown Almond, the wife of a physician, as a way to honor and recognize the important work of doctors.

The holiday became a national observance in 1991 when President George H. W. Bush signed a resolution designating March 30 as National Doctor’s Day.

On this day, people across the country may take the opportunity to send thank-you notes or gifts to their doctors or express gratitude for the care they have received. Many hospitals and medical practices also hold events to recognize and celebrate their physicians and staff.

National Doctor’s Day History

The history of National Doctor’s Day in the United States dates back to the early 1930s. The holiday was first celebrated on March 30, 1933, in Winder, Georgia. It was proposed by Eudora Brown Almond, the wife of a physician, as a way to honor and recognize doctors’ hard work and contributions.

The National Doctor’s Day idea came about after Dr. Charles B. Almond passed away in 1930. Eudora Brown Almond wanted to honor her late husband and all physicians dedicated to caring for others. She chose March 30 as the date for the holiday because it was the anniversary of Dr. Almond’s first use of ether anesthesia in surgery.

The first National Doctor’s Day was celebrated in Winder, Georgia, with a dinner and the distribution of greeting cards to physicians. The holiday gained popularity throughout the 1930s and 1940s, and in 1958, the United States House of Representatives officially recognized National Doctor’s Day.

In 1990, Congress passed a resolution designating March 30 as National Doctor’s Day, and President George H. W. Bush signed it into law in 1991. Since then, National Doctor’s Day has become an annual observance in the United States. It is a day to recognize physicians and other healthcare professionals’ significant contributions and sacrifices.

1. A guy isn’t feeling well and goes to the doctor. The doctor says, “I have good news and bad news. Which do you want first?”

The guy says, “I guess I’ll get the good news first.”

The doctor replies, “You’re going to get something named after you.”

2. A woman goes to the doctor

With a massive stomach ache.

“Ok,” says the doctor, “please lie down on your back and let me examine you.” He pushes her stomach with both hands and “BRAAAAB,” she lets out a huge fart.

“Could you roll to the side” and she does as requested. The doctor presses down again, and indeed, another “BRAAAB.”

The doctor then leaves the room and returns with a stick with a hook at one end. The woman jumps up in a panic and screams: “what the hell do you think you are doing?!”

“Relax,” says the doctor, “I’m going to open a window.”

3. I went to a new family doctor today. The waiting room was a spacious, new renovation, with nice and beautiful nurses. And it got a sign:

“We respect our patient’s privacy and will not call you by name.”

Quite good, eh? I thought.

Completed the registration, I sat down in the waiting area, reading the latest car magazine. A moment later, the nurse spoke with the mic:

“The man, age 32, with hemorrhoids, please proceed to examination room number 3”.

4. I had a problem with my rear end, so I saw the doctor…

The doc said, “well, let’s have a look.” I dropped my pants, and the doctor gave a thorough look and then said, “well, nothing is wrong, what seems to be the problem?”.

I said, “I can’t stop showing it to people.”

5. My doctor told me that only exercise will get rid of my big belly.

I asked him if I should join a gym. He said, “No, that’s not necessary. Here’s the exercise you need: Move your head back and forth from left to right anytime someone asks you if you’d like something to eat.”
