National Radio Day ~ Friday Humor

The radio is one of the world’s greatest inventions. National Radio Day was invented to celebrate the radio for providing information and entertainment to millions of people worldwide. It also helps improve communication for the armed forces and is a great asset for ships captains and pilots for navigation.

With the arrival of television and the internet with streaming websites, the radio’s popularity is constantly declining. To celebrate National Radio Day, you can show some support by listening to your favorite radio and get others to do so as well.

Background

The radio was invented by a joint effort from researchers all over the world. It was a long process involving scientists discovering a component such as electromagnetic induction, radio waves, and electric conduction.

Some important names that contributed to the success of this invention include Heinrich Hertz, a German inventor who discovered radio waves that enable electricity to travel wirelessly. Gugliemo Marconi, in the 1890s, also found a way for long-distance communication to happen using a radio. Lee de Forest invented the Audion vacuum in the 1900s so live broadcast could be using radio.
