International Friendship Day ~ Friday Humor

International Friendship Day is globally celebrated on July 30th and promoted by the United Nations. Friendships all over the world are celebrated regardless of gender, race, religion, or nationality.

Background

The founder of Hallmark Cards was the first in the U.S to suggest a day to celebrate friendships in 1930. Although Greeting Card National Association supported this idea, it met a lot of resistance. Many people thought the aim was to create a commercialized holiday for people to buy greeting cards.

The idea of a worldwide celebration of friendship was introduced in 1958 by the World Friendship Crusade. This organization, whose aim is to promote peace through friendship, worked with the United Nations for many years to make July 30th the official date for International Friendship Day.

The United Nations General Assembly, on July 27th, 2011, decided to declare July 30th as International Friendship Day.

Governments and organizations hold events that promote friendship. You can attend any of these events to celebrate with your friends or make new friends. It won’t be out of place to arrange something with your friends to share some old stories and make new ones over lunch. Enjoy these jokes on friends.

1. My friends used to laugh at me when I told them that I wanted to become a comedian
Well, nobody’s laughing now

2. My friends are getting tired of me always talking about sharpening my pencil…
…but really, I’m just trying to make a point.

3. A man is asked by his friends why he doesn’t have a life insurance policy
“Because I want everybody to be really sad when I die!” He grins.

4. A lawyer was working in his office when Satan appeared. “I can make it, so you win every case in your career and make huge piles of money. In exchange, you will give me your soul, your wife’s soul, your children’s souls, your parent’s souls, your grandparent’s souls, and the souls of all your friends!”

The lawyer thought it over for a moment and then asked, “What’s the catch?”
5. To all my Redditor friends observing the holy month of Ramadan…
…Lunch is on me.

6. My girlfriend doesn’t know why I’ve been saying “mucho” a lot more to my Spanish friends
Apparently, it means a lot to them

7. Why is it hard to make friends in Antarctica?
Because you can’t break the ice.

8. My friends treat me like a god
They ignore me until they need something from me.

9. I told my friends I didn’t want to try group bondage…
…but somehow, they roped me into it.

10. I’m quite a normal person; I’m very good friends with twenty-five letters of the alphabet.
I don’t know why…

Making a hundred friends is not a miracle. The miracle is to make a single friend who will stand by your side even when hundreds are against you- Unknown.
