Woodworking And Bonding With Your Steps

Woodworking with your step kids can be a great way to bond and improve your relationship. In addition to being a hobby you do together, you can both be proud of the projects you make.

If you’re an experienced woodworker, you can show your step kids the ropes. They might end up falling in love with woodworking.

Here are a few of the jigsaw wood projects you and your stepchildren can do together!

Planters

This would be a great gift for their mother. You and your step kids could build her one or several planters.

She can put some flowers or a vegetable garden in them. If you want to make it a little more personal, you could also paint it in her favorite color and write some amazing quotes or scriptures.

She’ll remember when she first received it every time she looks at it!

Dog Water and Food Bowl

If you have dogs, this would be a great project. You could make a stand and put their water and food bowls right on it.

If you want, you could also personalize it! You could even paint it, add some paws and put your dog’s name on it.

This will also serve as a sentimental item when your dog isn’t around anymore. You’ll be able to remember how much your dog loved the stand and the happiness you felt when building it with your stepchild.

Storage Bins

Storage bins are something people always need. There are a few reasons to make these.

The first one would be to store specific items with your stepchild. The other reason would be to make it as a gift for your wife or another family member.

They’ll appreciate it, and every time you see it, you’ll always remember the process and joy you felt making it. The great thing is you can make it as small or as big as you want!

It’s all up to you.

Outside Bench

Who doesn’t love sitting on an outside bench and enjoying the weather? You and your stepchild can sit and talk.

You can make a real connection, and you might have some of your favorite conversations on the bench. So, you can make it pretty much however you want.

After the bench is built, you could stain it or even paint your name and your stepchild’s name with the date. This way, when you look back on it, the memories will come flooding back to you both.

Maybe, it could even become the favorite chair in your household

Bookshelf

If you and your stepchild are book lovers, this is another great project to do! It can be as simple or as intricate as you want it.

Most of the pieces will be straight cuts, so it’ll also be great if your stepchildren are learning the ins and outs of woodworking. Also, you can incorporate things you both find interesting.

For example, if you both have a book or movie you love, you can make the bookshelf based on a character from it.

These are just a few of the project you can do, and the sky is the limit. If you want, you guys could even design and create one of a kind pieces.

Finally, regardless of what you do, you’ll be making beautiful memories and spending quality time with your step kids.
