Wooden Toys Are Cool
Why Wooden Toys Are Cool
As kids, my brother and I were hard on our toys. Some people would consider us destructive.
It was common for us to have several broken or partially broken toys within a week after Christmas. Usually, it was attributable to a broken plastic part or a small part carelessly left out which was devoured by my Mom’s vacuum.
Toys out of wood seemed commonplace then – very few electronic games and video games were nonexistent. I remember playing with Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, puzzles and building blocks.
We never owned these toys; I played with these toys at school and friend’s homes.
We never owned wooden toys because we never asked for them. I do distinctly remember having a set of wood blocks from which I learned my ABC’s and counting to 10.
Learning is one of the most obvious benefits from toys out of wood. But there’s more, here they are:
Ageless
Archeological evidence shows our ancient ancestors played with the same kinds of wood-made toys are children are playing with today.
Imagine your children and grandchildren learning from the same toys out of wood your grandparents and great grandparents learned from when they were kids.
Durable
If your kids were like my brother and I, they probably have missing game pieces and a couple of broken toys lying around your home. The same wooden toys enjoyed by generations can be the same toys that last for generations.
Quality wood-made toys like those made by Boab Toys are much more durable than any plastic toy will be. The toys can and do withstand the punishment of the most destructive kids.
Safe
You can rest easy about your kids’ safety when they’re playing with wooden toys. Wooden toys are made to be safe.
Most wood toys are hard to break – kids won’t be exposed to sharp edges or pieces that have broken off of the block. Today’s wooden toys are also non-toxic and use natural materials.
Kid’s can put them in their mouth with no worries about ingesting toxic chemicals.
Educational
Wooden toys go beyond learning your ABCs and counting to 10. Wood toys encourage imagination.
Some toys come in the shape of cars, food or common household items. They encourage kids to use their imaginations to include them into learning and play.
As kids use their imagination, playing will copy real-life scenarios.
Kids may have toys fashioned out of wood in the shape of food, and household items that can be used to play a game of grocery store or house.
Wood toys have come a long ways. A visit to Boab Toys will easily confirm that. Their toys are everything I mentioned above – ageless, durable, safe and educational.
Additionally, their toys promote sustainable and environmental friendly methods. If you’re committed to your child’s intellectual and education growth, plan on making one of your holiday purchases a wooden toy.
