Vindictive Ex – How to Know if You Have One

When involved in a divorce, an ex-spouse will see the real side of their former life partner. Now, sometimes this is not a problem and a couple can have an amicable and uncomplicated split without problems arising. However, when divorcing, one should watch out for these five signs that point to a vindictive ex-spouse.

Definition of Vindictiv e

Interfere with new relationships: Some angry ex-husbands and ex-wives will try to get involved with their ex-spouses personal lives, including relationships. While it is natural to go through a range of emotions, a happy ex-spouse should not have a problem with a new relationship of their ex. When faced with this problem, a person must take the initiative to tell their ex-spouse to back off and worry about their own life and future.

Children: If the couple had children together, a divorce is going to cause both sides plenty of strife. While this is true in most cases, an angry and bitter ex-spouse will try to damage the relationship with the children. Often, a parent will undermine the other parent by badmouthing or putting down their ex. If this happens, the other ex-partner should step in and say something as this can go on for years and cause problems to the children and parents.

Blame: Often, an ex-husband or ex-wife will blame their spouse for every issue in their life. Now, they may deserve some blame, but an extremely angry and irrational ex will blame their old partner for everything.

Nosy: Some ex-spouses will purposely run into their ex. This can cause issues and a recently divorced person must take action if this happens. Ideally, an ex-spouse would contact their former partner and fix the situation over the phone. Other times, one will have to get authorities involved so they can get to the bottom of the matter.

Phone calls: Some ex-spouses, out of anger and frustration, will call their ex and grill them about their personal life. This is common in the beginning, if it continues one must put this to an end by telling their ex to worry about their own life as it is not healthy to continue this way.

When getting divorced, a person will go through a variety of emotions. Most of the emotions are natural and healthy, but if an ex-spouse causes a lot of problems, you will need to get the boundaries straight. This kind of behavior isn’t healthy for any one and frankly it isn’t something you want your children to emulate.

The main aspect of divorce is you no longer want to be married to your spouse. So why should you allow them to continue to be involved in your business? You shouldn’t! Once you see the warning signs of a vindictive ex-spouse, you need to really take care of the problem before it becomes a legal issue for the both of you. It’s really pretty easy to get a restraining order if one is needed. The best advice that can be given after a divorce is to go out and live your life.
