You may not have given birth
But you gave me life
Holding my hand when life gave me strife
Your love is a shield
When I have to be strong and fight

You stand beside me step by step
Stretch out your hand
Catch me when I trip
How can I say thank you
When you so freely embraced me as your own
Been there as I have grown
